Jeff Gardner

Lead Pastor

"I just want to see people who follow Christ be real with each other instead of posturing all the time. The church was intended to be a world-changing movement, not a religious institution. I've done the institution thing and I'm just not gonna do it anymore. I hope that Threshold jazzes you as we all join together to be everything God created us to be, both as individuals who fight like crazy to imitate Jesus, and as a body of people that influences both our immediate community and places and people around the world. If you're tired of playing church and want to trade it in for authentic community and the chance to make a difference, welcome to Threshold."

As lead pastor, Jeff's role is to provide visionary leadership for the direction of Threshold, to design Sunday's worship and talk, and to lead our leaders. A large amount of his time is spent in prayer, study, and time spent with our elders and staff. He also enjoys meeting people who are not connected to Christ in the context of a church family; speaking to groups of college students; and bringing visionary ideas and encouragement to leaders engaged in church planting both in the the US and in Europe.

Jeff has been a pastor since 1988 and has served three other churches in North Carolina before becoming the founding pastor of Threshold in 2002. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has also earned Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Michelle, since 1985. The have two teenage children, Jake and Ashley.
