Service
Service is at the heart of Threshold. All members are expected to invest in service of some kind on Sunday mornings. Each person who serves on Sunday mornings makes a commitment to roughly 24 hours a year - once a month for two hours, or for one month per quarter, depending on the ministry. Either way the total is the same. Your options are with set-up, children, or hospitality.
Beyond Sunday, Threshold is committed to a handful of local, domestic and international projects...
LOCAL PROJECTS
Room in the Inn: During the months of December through March each year, we host about a dozen homeless men at the Siskey Y on Saturday evenings, twice a month. We provide dinner, a warm bed, shower facilities, and Sunday breakfast. Volunteers provide meals, eat and talk with the guests, and some spend the night. Commitments are typically made for one night per season.

Home Makeovers: Three to four times a year, we adopt a needy homeowner in the local area, and take a Saturday to do home or yard repairs and beautification. Volunteers sign up and serve where they feel most comfortable.

Christ Our Shepherd: This ministry in Matthews tends to the needs of single-parent families. Threshold occasionally provides meals for their gatherings and school supplies in the fall.

Operation Christmas Child: This worldwide ministry of Samaritan’s Purse has a massive regional processing center in Charlotte. Each November, shoeboxes are filled with toys for children around the world. As a church, we adopt a goal of several hundred to a thousand boxes, and we hope all families will participate.

Domestic Project
Henderson Settlement, Kentucky
Bell County, Kentucky is the southeastern-most county in Kentucky, and one of the 20 poorest counties in America. For one week each June, we send a team of 25-40 adults and youth there to provide home improvements to local residents. The team stays in a comfortable dormitory, eats well, enjoys getting to know other Threshold friends, and serves others. The cost for the trip is around $250.
International Project
Orosi Valley, Costa Rica We have an exciting partnership with a church in Orosi called Puente de Esperanza (Bridge of Hope). The Costa Rican family culture has grown unhealthy over the generations. Men marry and have families, but are often unfaithful to their wives and children. Our goal in the Orosi Valley is to help this church reverse the trend. Each December, we send a team of 15-20 people to provide a Bible School for children. In the summer, we send another team to provide music and discipleship for teens and young adults. The cost for this trip ranges from $1000 - $1400, depending on airfare.
